SCHREINER jewelry was made from approximately 1939 to the early 1970's. SCHREINER joined with his daughter, Terry, and her husband, Ambros Albert to establish The Schreiner Jewelry Company in New York, making fine costume jewelry, mostly to accessorize clothing. Together, the threesome created jewelry for Christian Dior from 1940's. There jewelry was also commissioned by other high-end boutiques whose models wore SCHREINER Haute Couture costume jewelry on catwalks.
Accordingly, many of the pieces were rather showy and gaudy with an ostentatious appeal. Notwithstanding their somewhat flamboyant design, the finish of each piece was smooth and refined, with construction that reflected the best of workmanship. The pieces were created to cater to the market niche of high-end clientele. Henry Schreiner died in 1954, but the business continued to operate, making designs from the original molds, under the direction of Terry and Ambrose until the early 1970's.Schreiner jewelry is highly regarded by serious collectors and is representative of some of the finest, and most admirable, vintage costume jewelry today.
